15000 AND MORE

STUDIO KLUS

THE NETHERLANDS, CURACAO AND GREECE

There are more bikes than people in the Dutch capital. As a matter of fact, about 15000 bikes are being fished out of the Amsterdam canals every year. This phenomenon tells us a lot about the Dutch bike culture and Amsterdam urban lifestyle. 15000 and more from Studio Klus is a light installation that reminds both locals and visitors of this typical lifestyle. Whether you were not aware of the Dutch rich bicycle culture yet or if you are a local who cannot live without his or her bike, 15000 and more will surely put a smile on your face. Who is throwing all the 15000 bikes in the canals remains a mystery though…

About Studio Klus

Studio Klus consists of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team. The Dutch Anna Musch, Curaçaoan Cleo de Brabander and Greek Eliza Mante have a background in fashion, product design and architecture. The trio met at studio Droog in Amsterdam where they executed assignments for the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Museum of Sex (in New-York) and others. Currently they work individually from their own studio’s, but for special projects – such as Amsterdam Light Festival – they again join forces. When they work together they call themselves ‘the klusjesmannen’ (handymen) because they prefer a hands on mentality. This is where the name Studio Klus derives from.
