FREEDOM AS A VALUABLE FRIEND

ERIK SOK

THE NETHERLANDS

There won’t be many people who do not consider freedom a valuable friend. The work consists of three Statues of Liberty who, instead of holding a torch, hold a so called cornucopia – a horn of plenty. The work is typical of Eric Sok who likes to work with images concerning topical subjects, which may contain some sort of mystery.

About Erik Sok

Erik Sok grew up with art; his mother was a creative therapist and while most children were only introduced to clay and paint in kindergarten, Sok was already using the materials to create sculptures. After studying graphic design and drawing in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Hilversum and Laren, he became art director at a publishing house specialized in art books. Sok, who calls himself a conceptual artist, currently makes a living as an artist and most often creates installations in which painting plays a major role.
