On average we spend eight hours and forty-five minutes on media per day. That means we spend one third of our lives watching, browsing, calling, mailing or gaming! We often fail to realise how quickly this information is transferred from one place to another. In Transmission, Dutch architect Serge Schoemaker presents this abstract and elusive process. A ‘wave’ of 19 illuminated tubes is programmed in a way to make it look like it’s literally moving through the air. It’s almost a calming version of all our messages that are constantly soaring through the ether.
