ECHO, TURNING THE LIGHT AROUND

ECHO, TURNING THE LIGHT AROUND

VROEGOP/SCHOONVELD

THE NETHERLANDS

“Turning the light around,” describes a Taoist meditation technique, centered on the effort to bring together the inner self with the outside world. Taking this idea as a point of departure, the artist duo Vroegop/Schoonveld created a light sculpture entailing two hundred rotating lamps with black and white patterns, together forming the sign of infinity. Approaching the sculpture, the audience will get caught in the interplay of light, movement and rhythm by which the installation creates a mantra-like endlessness.
